Mauritius has several preferential trade agreements: CECPA with India (in force since 2021), a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement with China, membership in SADC and COMESA, and participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). These agreements provide reduced or zero-duty access for eligible goods.

The Mauritius Freeport is one of the oldest and most established freeports in the Indian Ocean. It offers duty-free import of raw materials, no VAT on goods stored and traded within the zone, flexible operations (repacking, labeling, light manufacturing), and efficient re-export facilitation. It is adjacent to Port Louis harbour and SSR International Airport.
